Pilea Microphylla ‘Tricolor’

I snagged this beautiful plant at a local plant store. It is the most delicate Pilea I have ever seen. The green, white and pink variegation is a dream!

Pilea are a fun succulent-like plant. Most are very sensitive to overwatering, because they hold so much moisture in the stem and leaves. You usually don’t notice a watering issue until it’s too late. I like to let my Pilea’s soil dry out completely before giving them a nice big drink.

These prefer a quick draining soil mix, like most houseplants. An equal mix of potting soil, perlite, and fine orchid bark is a good start.

I fertilize all of my plants with Foliage Pro 9-3-6, and the Pilea seem to be fine with that ratio.

Remeber to keep Pilea in bright but indirect light. An east facing window is preferred.
