Reset a Leggy Succulent

Want to reset a ‘leggy’ succulent? Here is what must be done:

This jade was so etiolated (stretching out from lack of sunlight), and even if I were to put it in brighter light, the old growth would never be compact again.

So….chop, chop! It’s truly the only way to get a happy compact succulent again.

BUT IF YOU CHOP YOU CAN’T KEEP IT IN THE SAME CONDITIONS THAT MADE IT STRETCH IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Sorry for the yelling, but I’ve seen people cut their succulent back but leave it in the same spot for the cycle to begin again.

Jades, cacti and other succulents should be in a south facing unobstructed window — minimum! You may want to add grow lights or put it outside for the summer if you want it to reach its full potential.

Do you have a succulent that’s stretched out? Would you chop? Tell me in the comments! ✂️
